Little Becky from Dublin, IR

This is Little Becky from Dublin, IR. She is 8 years old now and does prank calls to local businesses. They are hilarious! Here is one of my favourite- There is no video obviously as it is a prank call, but you can hear how funny she is!

Kitchen Before & After

The kitchen pretty much looks the same. We just got a square kitchen table, and a rug to go underneath it. So that looks better. And that is really it. I still need some work in there, but I am glad I have most of the rest of the house done!

What a large job and we did it for relatively cheap considering what it could cost. Nick was very patient with me because it thought it looked just fine when we moved in (I know, sad.) But while doing the dishes the other day he said, "Kim, it feels more like a home in here than before." Which is a big compliment coming from a boy.

The Master Bedroom Before & After

The previous tenants closet
The previous tenants Master bedroom.
Our Master bedroom. Nick and I painted 4 coats of paint on the walls to get rid of the tan/brown colour they had. It just made the carpet look dirtier than it really was- so we thought interior white would be better.
Nick and my brother Geoff made the bed frame. It's great for storage and it's really cute!
Ta-da! All done in here. Maybe a couple cute, colourful, pillows for the bed, but nothing serious left in here.

Kim's Office Before & After

The previous tenants used the space as a random room/storage.

A chair I reburbished for my office.
Some design samples in my storage cubby
A creative way to store my nail polish
My little office! It still needs work. As in, I need to work on creative storage for some things and I need to work on things hanging on the walls; but for the most part it is coming together pretty well.
I also need curtains coverings on my closet. I don't like all that stuff showing. Makes it look a little cluttery.

Nick's Office Before & After

This is a blurry picture, but you can get the idea. This room also needed a new coat of paint because it was also a bad paint job of the same baby blue that we found throughout the whole place.
Nick's new office
Nick's office. I am still planning on making valences (spelling?) for the windows in the left over fabric from his closet coverings. Nick really likes it in here

Bathroom Before & After

The previous tenants bathroom.
Our bathroom! This is the probably the room I am most proud of. It was a lot of work because there were many holes to patch in the walls, and I had to scrub, clean it (it felt really dirty) and then a fresh coat of paint and voila!
It's really small- but at least it feels clean

The Family Room Before & After

Family Room before. It was Christmas time when we saw it so that is why the previous tenants have decorations up.
Also, they purchased a large cut pile carpet for this room so their kids can play. It looks better with that carpet because it brightens the room up. Oh well for now.
Our stuff in the new family room.

Before & After's of our home

The old inside of our front door.
The old outside of our front door.
The new inside of our front door.
The new outside of our front door.

Whoever painted it before did not a.)choose a good colour b.) painted it terribly because it was all streaky and spots missing and c.) painted the inside door the same colour as the walls. Is that normal? I've never seen it before until this house. I had to paint several doors white in this place because they were baby blue! why? I don't know.

Stay Tuned

I am 94% finished decorating our rental apartment that we just moved into. I am happy with the way it turned out compared to the before pictures (which I will also post) and it feels more like a home now.

My mom said something interesting to me though. She said, Kim, the more you move- the less money you have for a future house due to the new decorating, etc. She is so right! It costs money to move and I am not planning on moving again until we head off to graduate school. Then I will be in that place for 4 years until Nick has his PhD. Then we will see where we are at for a REAL HOUSE we can call our own! Just a dream in my mind right now- but one day:)

Until then, I learn to deal with old carpet, and cheap counters and make due. It's not the home that makes a family- a family makes a home! (little words of wisdom)

Star Wars and Some Fun

This is my friend Asian Eddie's little music video! It's hilarious- I was suppose to be in the scene at the end, but school pulled me away from doing it with them. His cute little wife is the blonde at the end too. They are the coolest and funniest people- we love them!
