Finger Painting

Today's activity was finger painting! It had to be in the bathtub because what a mess that would have been anywhere else. Yes, the finger paint was edible- I made it. Here is the recipe if you want it: 4 T. sugar, 1/2 c. cornstartch, 2 c. water. Bring to boil and it will thicken. Separate into 4 containers and add food colouring. Voila! Colette LOVED this- and even snuck a few bites in her mouth.

Rhody Run 2012

It has officially started! I am running across Rhode Island this month! The first day there were lots of things telling me to not go- like: Colette slept in, all my friends cancelled on me, it was freezing, no milk for breakfast, tire fell off of jogging stroller, fixed tire, couldn't fit stroller in car so I had to use the regular stroller...What a morning! But I did it- got out of the house to start my goal! Then today, beautiful weather, all my friends were there, and we had no majour problems, besides Colette losing a slipper. I am so glad that I am doing this goal! It makes me happy with myself when I actually pull through. Also, I think the older you get one just doesn't push themselves as hard as they use to. So I like seeing what I can accomplish when I push myself harder than I usually do. My friend Melissa did a marathon and that is huge encourgement to me to know I could do it if I pushed myself...Who knows, I might be the next Elise. HAHAHAHAHA (not quite)

Daddy Time

Colette just loves Nick. When he comes home at night, she always smiles, jumps up and down on her knees and walks on her knees over to him! One of the best things about having a baby is seeing how excited they are to see you. This is them just cuddling before bedtime.

Audubon Centre

Yesterday was such a beautiful day (80 degrees) that my friends decided to head to the Audubon reserve and Colette and I tagged along. It is this reserve where you walk through a field of tall grasses and cat-tails, and a pond or two, before it takes you to the beach.

Colette loved the sand, and yes, a couple handfuls made it to her mouth. While the boys loved looking for mini-crabs and snails by flipping over rocks. Afterwards we had a picnic at the look out point and just sat around enjoying the sun. I enjoyed it a little too much because I got a sunburn on my neck. Thank goodness for my friend Marissa who brought sunscreen, so I lathered Colette in some of that.

Even though everyone had a grand ol' time, these two were pooped out from too much fun and sun!

Tid-Bits of Life

I was trying to roll on Nick's sore muscle thing, and my hair got caught under it! I couldn't move and it hurt/was really funny. Nick snapped a picture.
Colette fell asleep this funny way in her swing. She loves this swing!!
We put a diaper on her head and she really liked it. She kept it on for quite some time. Yes, the diaper was clean and un-used.
Riding the train in NYC
And here is Nick flossing Cole's teeth. She really likes it...maybe it's the mint flavour.

Her first steps!

She has done it! She took her first official step a couple weeks ago, but now she is taking 3-4. So it's only a matter of time before I am chasing a little one around the house! We are so happy over here

Bragging Rights

Do you see the boy on the cover? Well that's my oldest nephew, Nate. He was the model for the book covers. So proud of that handsome guy. I guess I should buy the books like any proud aunt would do...

Portland, Maine

This past weekend holiday we decided to take a little vacation to Portland, Maine. It is a beautiful town! When I pictured what Providence would be like, this is what I pictured. A port town, with some old time charm. We walked around the wharf's, did a little shopping, ate at some awesome places (even some TV shows were filmed at these places), and visited the Portland Head Lighthouse (which George Washington commission to be built over 200 years ago and is still functioning) then picked up some little lobster friends to come home with us. (which we ate with our friends Eric and Liddy last night. They were delicious!!) It is only 2.5 hours north of us, so it was totally worth the trip. We both had a great time, and like always, Colette did just great. I love living in New England so we can experience things like this!

Life Lately

Not much has been going on lately. Colette has been doing great. She officially took her first 2.5 steps! Very exciting around here...but she has yet to reproduce these steps so my guess is that she will just do it again whenever she feels like it. Kind of like her mom in that area :)
Here are the puffy coat, purple shoe gals. Nick and I were headed to the Boston temple and my friend, Jenny (right), was going to watch Colette for the morning. She had a meeting at the church with my friend, Sarita (left) so Colette just hung out with them there. She is pretty good in regards to stranger anxiety. Just nervous at first, then she is cool. Hopefully it stays that way and doesn't get worse.
This is a cute picture of Colette and her cousin, Kate, taking a bath together while we were in Utah. I just love this picture and wanted to share it. I love these two!
And this is from last night. Colette and I were sharing some marshmallows. I stuck one to her forehead. She didn't think it was very funny- but I sure did!

Clean House

I love a clean house, and I really like to clean. (I know, weird) This morning was clean the house day. So I went room and room and deep cleaned them all. Just beautiful.

Then Colette woke up from her nap and now this is what it looks like again...

Kids. They just mess everything up! Oh well. I guess there is always next week.
