Drive Out East: Day 4

Day 4 we spent at Niagara Falls! Neither of us have ever been there so we were very excited to see them! Since we didn't have a passport for Colette we stayed only on the American side, but I was SOO tempted to run across the bridge with my Canadian passport and grab some candy. Nick talked me out of it for some reason... But we did the Hurricane Deck; and by we, I mean Nick, Colette and I!! We just wrapped her up tight and she slept throught he whole thing. We got soaked and it was so much fun, but she just slept. What a great baby!
These are the shoes they gave us. Nick's were too small and mine were too big.. They didn't have either of our sizes. But they asked if we wanted a pair for Cole...really?

After this we drove to Rochester, New York and spent the night. This is the day that the hurricane was really hitting the Boston/Rhode Island area. We didn't see the hurricane at all so we were very safe.

Drive Out East: Day 3

On day 3 we drove into Chicago to go to the Science Museum and have a little lunch. It was a little overwhelming and very loud. Colette was not a fan of the museum because it was probably too over stimulating for her, but Nick got her to sleep so we could enjoy it a little. They had this one cage where you could watch baby chickens be born. That was pretty neat to see them peck at their shells.

They had this screen where butterflies landed on your shadow. Colette was intrigued by these flying colours. Might have been my favourite part!

We also did a tour of a U-Boat. I thought of my much my dad and grandpa's would have loved to been there!

Colette Laughing

She finally did it!! Love her-

Drive out East: Day 2

We started the day off early and continued our journey out east. We stopped and had lunch in Omaha, Nebraska. While there we did a tour of Winter Quarters. Hearing the story of the dear pioneer lady that laid her twins to rest 10 days after being born is such a touching story! Especially to a new mom holding her 4 month old. I almost got teary eyed. Then we tried to find a magnet for me and my collection. After three stores and no success and lady was so excited that someone wanted tourist stuff that she grabbed a bunch of Nebraska magazines, articles, pamphlets and put them in a bag and gave them to Nick. I guess she thought I could make a magnet out of them or something...
Then we continued to drive....
And drive....and all we ever saw was....CORN FIELDS & BEAN FIELDS! For hours and hours.
Day 2 we drove 579 miles until we got to Davenport, Iowa.

Drive Out East: Day 1

Day 1: We meant to leave at 7:00 am, but Colette and Nick decided to sleep in a little, so we didn't actually hit the road until 8:30. Oh well. It was hard to say good-bye to my parents, but we were excited to get the show on the road and they, I'm sure, were excited to get our little family out of their basement, so we were off. We had lunch at Fort Bridger in Wyoming and then just drove and drove. We made it all the way to North Platte, Nebraska. 681 miles! Colette did great! She slept and entertained herself and when she was done with that she let us know then Nick or I sat in the back seat with her and she was very happy with us back there.

Before we left...

Here are some pictures of things we did before we left Provo.
We packed our moving van. U-Pack...you pay for the footage you use. Very cheap, but lots of casualties in the move :(
We played with our cousin Kate and are getting excited for our new cousin, 'Mister' Wright
We visited Grandma Lola who recently moved to Utah after living in Idaho her whole life!
Hung out with Grandma lots and lots
Learned to roll over; even in her swing. So now she has to be snapped in.
Had a family good-bye dinner where we got 'moving' advice from all the members of the family. What a special night! It's always hard to say good-bye. But they are always a phone call away
And attended my Grandma Carma's funeral grave-side service in Idaho. It was a beautiful day!
So there are the last two weeks of our life in Provo in a nutshell. Seems like so long ago - And with three constant days of rain here I'm sure Nick is missing the sunny desert weather right about now. (Not me as we all know I LOVE the rain!)

Family Pictures

So as many of you have seen, Leah took our family pictures and we just love them. Now it's decision time on what pictures to get and put in frames...decisions, decisions. Thanks so much Leah! I love them all-

We're BAAAACK

We are moved in (almost) and internet is up and running! (yeah) So I'll have lots of pictures to share. I've decided to do a post a day until I'm caught up so I don't overwhelm everyone with all the pictures. (or the real reason, because Colette probably won't let me stay on the computer that long. She keeps her tabs on me)

Last post for awhile...

This is my last post for awhile. When I say awhile I mean, until we get to RHODE ISLAND :) and set up internet there. Then I will show you pictures of all the fun things we did along the way and what our new place is like, etc., etc. Just unplugging the computer and wanted to let you know.
