Project: Chair for Cole's room

Before:
After:
My grandma Lola has moved down to Provo due to her being very ill and needing help; so she gave me her little red chair that I have loved. I was excited to get working on it so that I would have a chair in Colette's room. After lots of hard work I finished it and I think it turned out pretty good. And if you are thinking I purchased chevron fabric..you are wrong! I couldn't find any, and to find it in the exact colour I knew would be impossible. So I just bought the right colour fabric and some white and started sewing. My mom, an avid and wonderful quiltress, was very impressed with what I did! And in case you didn't know, this is the Vienna Cafe chair #14. A very popular chair...

Razor Burn!!!

Pictures don't even do it justice. Nick even said it looked really painful!
I recently shaved my legs and received the WORST razor burn of my life. It was SO bad I took pictures to prove it! Only cure was time, patience, and aloe vera...

Look at how much Nick loves us...

Fabulous little picture I found when uploading my pictures from my camera...

Fun at the Pool

Look at how big her diaper was after her swimming session! (They don't make Little Swimmers for her size)

One Saturday Nick, Colette and I went to my sister's house to use her fabulous pool for the day. Cole is just getting old enough to enjoy it, so we thought it would be great! She did enjoy it and loved kicking her little legs around.

Carma Camp Morgan

My dear Grandma Morgan has passed away. She taught me so many wonderful things, one of which is my love of crafting. She was a great painter, from oil, watercolour, to her favourite- toll painting. She was also a wonderful example to me of being able to talk to anyone! She loved people and loved getting to know them. What a talent I believe that is. And yes, of course, we cannot forget our favourite past time with Grandma Morgan- playing games. She just loved cards! As a breast cancer survivor from 8+ years ago, it decided to make an appearance again, but this time bringing along some of it's friends. She passed away softly in her home state of Idaho. She will be much missed and is very much loved by her three children, nine grandchildren, and 21.5 great grandchildren.

My Family

Well the weeks are winding down here in Utah. My little family is getting ready to move and I can honestly say I am getting very anxious to see what our new home is going to be like. So much has been happening lately in my parents lives, that part of me wishes to stay longer to be a support to them and as I was expressing this to my mom she comforted me with saying there is a circle of life, and me moving and planting my roots is part of it. I am really going to miss my family. But that is what is so great about family- you are never away for long so it's only temporary. So in the meantime I am going to have a great time learning the East Coast style of life and meeting so many wonderful new people! It's intimidating to think about, but that is part of the fun. 22 more days.....

Bear Lake 2011

Every 2 years my family goes to Bear Lake. We rent a cabin that holds all 26 of us and plan a fun week of games, waterskiing, pool time, raspberry shakes, volleyball, hikes, going running, and just being together. This year we had Colette so it was a little more challenging, but she was such a good baby, we couldn't ask for anything more from her. Here are some shots of the fun times we had.
Nick, Colette and I walked to town to get shakes. Colette slept the whole way
There were little fish at the beach where we stayed and my sister Elise paid my 12 year old nephew Nate to eat one. $20 is a lot to pass up on
Colette is her sun hat
My brother Geoff brought an Eskimo blanket. So we each took a turn and it was pretty fun for the kids :) That is my niece Sarah in the air.
Colette and I at the beach. She loved feeling the water and sand in her toes. Don't worry I had SPF 110 on her!! (They say it doesn't do anything after 50, but why risk it) :)
The volleyball court in the backyard. We had so much fun playing, and I am not good, but I can serve okay.

Nick solomon skiing. I think he is just good at everything!

What I'd do over again..

If I could go back to the beginning of when Colette was born I would do things a little different. For example, I wouldn't take the lactationist word as law. (nipple confusion is a myth I think) I would say to the hospital nurses, yes, give my baby a Binky and yes, give her a bottle during the night so I can sleep. If I did this, then she might take one or both of those things. That way I can step away for a while and let Nick or a babysitter be able to feed her. Well, enough blogging- I need to get back to trying and breaking the Binky in. Wish me luck!

July 4th

(This is of the glow sticks everyone had..just took it with time lapse on my camera)
We had a great July 4th this year. It started off with me running my frist 5k since being pregnant. (not that good of an idea so soon..but I did it!) Then we went over to my sister Elise's house where Nick and I played tennis, then went swimming, ate a delicious steak dinner where I sat at the kid's table and learned some interesting things about my nieces and nephews. So fun! After that we played 2-step, had dessert, and all headed out front for a first time ever in Utah, aerial firework show!! oooohhhh. It was really fun and I made sure to plug Colette's ears the whole time. What a great day it was.

Grandma Lola

Grandma Lola is here visiting and it's always a nice time when Grandma is here. At 92, Colette is her 25th (?) great grand child. What a legacy she is leaving behind!
